Does Obamacare mean you can't see your doctors?
Understanding Limited Networks
Obamacare has only been covering people for less than a month. Some are discovering that their new health plan on the marketplace isn't as all-inclusive as they had hoped. Shawnna Simpson, of Franklin Tennessee, took her daughter to their family doctor and found that their family doctor is out-of-network on their new health plan.
Simpson said, "Obamacare is not working. A lot of people that have the same issues we have and don't know it yet, until they try to use it."
Others have experienced similar frustrations, so it is vitally important to call your doctors before selecting a health plan. BlueCross Network E is a more limited network, so if you select this Network, make sure you know what you are getting into. Network E is the most cost-effective option, so many may have selected a plan on this network not realizing it's limited scope.
We are hoping to be able to help Shawnna cancel her current plan, put a temporary strategy in place, and enroll in a better health plan for her family. At Bernard Health, we're seeing an increasing need for you to treat health insurance like filing your taxes more than buying car insurance. Health insurance has never been a straightforward point and click decision and now health reform makes it imperative to seek expert help to ensure you and your family have the best strategy. Sure you can select your own health plan, just like you can file your own taxes, but it's almost never the best way.
If you find yourself in a sticky situation with your health plan, call us at 1-800-505-0750. We'd love to be able to help!
