Onboarding for more engaged employees

First impressions are everything
First impressions are everything, and top-performing companies know it. When it comes to onboarding employees, keep in mind that it’s an opportunity that’s not to be wasted. Well-planned onboarding steps can help to create a more engaged and productive work environment.
Steps to successful onboarding
1. Rules/Regulations
Get your new hires up-to-speed on important company policies and details such as dress code, employee handbook, and industry-relevant regulations.
2. Expectations3. Culture
Don’t let your new hire feel like an outsider. Quickly introduce them to your company culture. The more they feel included, the quicker they’ll integrate.
4. Socialize
Whether your company implements new hire lunches, team happy hours, etc. it’s important for your new hire to bond with coworkers and to establish a sense of connection from the beginning.
Onboarding doesn’t end after the employee’s first day though. They will continue to need support, information, and assistance on-going throughout their employment. Facilitate mentoring, regular team meetings and opportunities to interact with other groups in the organization.
As the new hires begin to settle into their new positions, be sure you provide feedback. This will help to ensure they are on the right track. Plan regularly scheduled check-ins, peer reviews, and performance reviews.
Businesses that execute structured and engaging onboarding processes are more likely to attract and keep great talent by setting your new hires up for success. Job satisfaction begins with feeling productive and valued. These satisfied employees create a workplace culture that can directly impact overall company performance.
